Sun Dali (September 2017)

Solar sundial clock 04

I remembered a friend a few weeks ago, that I haven’t been in contact with for a long time. These days, it seems tough to be out of contact with a friend, what with social media, but some folks don’t use Twitter or Facebook. I don’t have her newest e-mail address and her phone number changes quite a bit.

I used to make mix tapes for her a long time ago, which she always enjoyed. I last made a mix for her ten years ago – a double-CD set. I thought I’d write a letter and send another one along, for old times’ sake (and she’s probably bored of the older ones by now). I really enjoyed making this one, so I decided I’d share it here.

It’s got some psychedelic space rock, indie rock, psychedelic folk, dark ambient and even a 1980s sing-along anthem! Plus, the usual film and teevee dialogue. Click on the link to listen and download.

Vernal Equinoxing – The Kaleidophonic Stroboscope – April 2011

Spring is here and we’re seeing off another winter (at least in the Northern Hemisphere, we are). To mark the equinox, I’ve dug into the archive folder and found a show I recorded in April 2011…six years ago. Time flies, eh? It’s not exactly all light and airy, though. You’ve got some some weird-prog, courtesy of Peter Hammill, skewed indie-pop from Stephen Malkmus, low-key folk from Laura Marling and even the De La Soul track is a cautionary tale. Still, enjoy the mix and the (hopefully) warmer days!

Festive Tidings -December 2010

Hello again – time for another old show I dug out of the folder. This one’s from December 2010 – seeing as it’s nearly December again, I thought I’d go with it.

I got a bit festive in the start of the episode with Misty’s Big Adventure and The Steve Miller Band. After that, it’s pretty much the usual grab-bag from my collection – a bit of jazz, ambient, electronic and rock with a trip to the Vinyl Vault thrown in, too. In this show, I dusted off my copy of Led Zeppelin‘s “Physical Graffiti”, as a request.

It’s all there, folks – get amongst it! You can listen to and download it here: Kaleidophonic Stroboscope – December 2010

Tune In, Turn On, Freak Out…

The next episode of The Stroboscope is a mix I created about three years ago and posted to Mixcloud. I meant to post a regular series on Mixcloud, but it didn’t happen. Unfortunately, I deleted the master file, thinking I’d be able to download it back from Mixcloud if I needed it. That’s not the case, so I’ve got to leave it there for the time being. It’s O.K., though, you can play it as many times as you like – you just can’t download it, which is a shame. I promise you’ll be able to download the next one. I’m still working on it, but I hope to have it ready in a few weeks. This one’s a bit short – about 60 minutes long, but it’s a good’un. A mix of psychedelia, jazz and dark ambient, with some spoken word bits sprinkled in for your entertainment. Hope you enjoy it!
